I recently heard about a practice offering Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections in the knee for $100. I had a patient call confused about how pricing can be all over the spectrum Ranging from $100 to almost $10,000. All for the same thing? Not really.
Let us start with how the $100 injection is a scam.
When the patient called about the possibility of coming in, they were told in would take about 30 min, and nothing additional was needed, I am guessing no preparation as needed.
I have developed a trademarked system to process PRP called Perfect PRP®. In this process multiple steps are followed to make your PRP individualized and "Perfect".
Let's look at the steps:
Stop all medications which may interfere with the PRP process and regeneration for a period of 3 week prior to and after the injection.
Pre-treat the area with acoustic wave twice weekly for 3 weeks to ensure the joint is primed to receive the injection.
Draw labs to find the patient's platelet count, giving us a starting the point for calculating the amount of platelets recovered for the injection.
Use only an FDA approved PRP Kit.
When we are ready to finally perform the injection, perform it under x-ray or ultrasound guidance.
In the hands of Regen Ocala you have 8 office encounters, lab work, and an injection tailored to your needs.....At the other office, a blood draw and a shot.
That is the Regen Ocala Difference.
Here is a short video I sent to physicians regarding this exact problem and how to fight back.
I think it is important to advocate for our patients, and make sure physicians are doing things right!!!
If you have a medical issue you think we can assist you with, please give us a call.
